Handcrafted & bespoke lampshades to light up any interior...
About my lampshades
I run a small studio where I create unique lampshades that add a touch of elegance, class or good old-fashioned fun to any space - public or private.
I love to see a beautiful fabric or handmade paper brought to life in 3-D form, with the shape, size and trim adding to that perfect finish!
Whether you're an interior designer or an individual looking for a handmade lampshade, let's get creating...!
I trained as a silversmith & jewellery designer at the Cass School of Art, Architecture & Design in Aldgate (London Met. University), and latterly did my lampshade making training with Jane Warren, one of the UK's leading lampshade designer-makers.
I was really impressed by the craftsmanship of the lampshades Marianne makes, and the quality and variety of the textiles she selects. They are real statement pieces and each one seems to tell a story!
Fredrikke: Interior Designer
My owners recently purchased a beautiful lampshade from Marianne. I love the cozy ambiance it creates when I'm chilling by the fire!
Buddy the Pug: Family Pet
It was love and first sight with the lampshade I bought from Marianne... It feels as much a work of art as a practical accessory in our office.
Yvonne: Retired farmer, active campaigner!
I can't wait to order from Marianne when my husband and I furnish our new home together. I've already reserved three or four from her range and she's under strict instructions not to sell them to anyone else! :-)
Rhonda: Freelance author and speaker
The bespoke lampshade I ordered exceeded my expectations. It's the perfect addition to my home décor!
Johan: Homeowner
This miniature Liberty lampshade garland is the last word in fun and style! I loved it so much when I saw it that I commissioned one for the 70th birthday of a friend. Perfect for Midsummer/Sankt Hans!
Please get in touch if you're interested in a commission or seeing my current stock. Visits to my studio are often by appointment - but feel free to drop in if you're passing by!
Shine your light... Living for lampshades...
I have been in business for just under a year, learning the craft of lampshade making and having fun spending endless hours (justifyably) browsing and buying fabric, haberdashery and handmade paper... After five years of living in Norway and being inspired by Scandinavian style in all areas BUT lampshades, I decided initially to make new lampshades for our family's old farmhouse. But then I got bitten by the bug, had a business start-up meeting with a friend ('Aren't you an engineer...? Is my Norwegian that bad...?), stayed with some nuns in Portsmouth for a week - and the rest is history!
I am trying hard to be zero-waste (hence my marketing materials are made from scraps and offcuts from lampshade liners and the packaging of my lampshades is either recyclable, biodegradable or recycled by me!) . And I'm equally committed to making bespoke lampshades that will charm and wow interiors in Norway (and who knows, elsewhere...?) for years to come. So much so that I dare to believe that the reams of white, beige and grey lampshades in Scandi shops might possibly be diminished in my lifetime... I see huge potential to grow into a social enterprise and hope one day I can offer employment and volunteering opportunities to those who (like me) aren't exactly A4 when it comes to the job market...
I hope you like what you see - and I'm always open for feedback, ideas or invitations to go shopping for material... So don't be shy - get in touch! And in the meantime, happy browsing!
