I have been in business for just under a year, learning the craft of lampshade making and having fun spending endless hours (justifyably) browsing and buying fabric, haberdashery and handmade paper... After five years of living in Norway and being inspired by Scandinavian style in all areas BUT lampshades, I decided initially to make new lampshades for our family's old farmhouse. But then I got bitten by the bug, had a business start-up meeting with a friend ('Aren't you an engineer...? Is my Norwegian that bad...?), stayed with some nuns in Portsmouth for a week - and the rest is history!
I am trying hard to be zero-waste (hence my marketing materials are made from scraps and offcuts from lampshade liners and the packaging of my lampshades is either recyclable, biodegradable or recycled by me!) . And I'm equally committed to making bespoke lampshades that will charm and wow interiors in Norway (and who knows, elsewhere...?) for years to come. So much so that I dare to believe that the reams of white, beige and grey lampshades in Scandi shops might possibly be diminished in my lifetime... I see huge potential to grow into a social enterprise and hope one day I can offer employment and volunteering opportunities to those who (like me) aren't exactly A4 when it comes to the job market...
I hope you like what you see - and I'm always open for feedback, ideas or invitations to go shopping for material... So don't be shy - get in touch! And in the meantime, happy browsing!
